So I guess I have been thinking about this for a while now, and for some reason, and maybe a little nudging my cousin, here I am, creating a website. I don't really have too much of a plan for this thing yet, other than sharing little tidbits of info that I typically share in my classes. For now, this will be a place to collect thoughts and share things I have found useful in life and at work.

I should probably start with a little introduction no?

Hi! my name is Mia and I will be your fun and friendly host of this random recommendations site. I live in California and tend to be a bit all over the place as work takes me everywhere, but I am mostly located in the beautiful Central Valley. Yes, I know, its not the place for everyone, and many may disagree, but I love my small town, (mostly) friendly people that live here, and minimal traffic as compared to the larger cities where I sometimes wander off to.

Professionally, I am an instructor and consultant for an amazing small company that deals with the wonderful world of assisted living. We have classes for administrators, staff training, we offer services like licensing applications and consulting visits, pretty much anything you need, we got you!

I began my career in long term care back in 2003, working in a small skilled nursing facility in the bay area. I had the BEST job, I did activities! Yup, i got paid to play bingo, do arts and crafts, and sometimes take my residents on outings to restaurants or shopping. In 2005 I moved to a larger facility to also run activities, and I met a person who changed my life forever, the administrator of that building. I somehow managed to make an impression on her because when she moved to another facility she called me and recruited me over. Thats when my love for long term care really blossomed. I got the opportunity to take on a managerial position and that meant lots of learning opportunities and therefore personal growth. Eventually I followed that same administrator down to southern CA where even more learning and growth opportunities threw themselves at me. I decided to take the great advice of my administrator and a couple other amazing people, and enroll in a university to finally get a degree, and 4 short years later I was rocking a Masters in Healthcare Administration from a Cal State University. In 2019 I was approached by an amazing person I met and she recruited me to come work for the company I am currently in. I spread my wings and took a leap, and have continued soaring and absorbing every tidbit of information with every new class, every new student, every new consulting visit that I get to go on.

All this wonderful information that I have gathered over the last couple decades is just too good not to pass along, so stay tuned, posts will be coming with things you can take into your community to make your work a little easier and more enjoyable.
