Key Lockbox

So I have come to the conclusion that my career as a blog writer will never take off because... well, I'm just not very good at keeping up with this thing on a regular basis. But you know what? At least the posts I DO have are useful and not just filled with junk and a ton of ads, so I guess there's that right?

Ok, lets get to the point of this post. I have been meaning to make this one for a long time. In all of our initial classes and some CEUs, we talk about emergency preparedness and discuss the fairly recent bill that was passed about having keys for all facility operated vehicles available to staff on all shifts. The law is now part of Health and Safety Code 1569.695. Now, this doesn't mean that we just have the keys hanging in a place where anyone can take the keys and drive the van down to Jack In The Box to grab their lunch, but it DOES mean, that in case of an emergency staff can get those keys so we can get the residents to safety in a timely manner. So here's an easy solution:

We can use this key box where the drivers must leave the facility vehicle keys at the end of their shift. In case of an emergency, staff at the community will call the administrator, or one of the drivers, or whoever you designate to have the combo and we will let the staff know what it is so they can get access to those keys. The combo should be easy to change after the emergency is over, so staff wouldn't be tempted to get in there and use the keys for any unauthorized purposes. Sounds easy right?

Let's make it even easier! With the rise in smart locks, smart homes, smart everything, why not a smart key box? This thing can be unlocked remotely by the administrator, and even COOLER, is that you can set multiple codes for different staff and see who borrowed which key at what time. How neat is that? It also has options of WHEN certain staff can access the key box, but that may be going above and beyond.

Hopefully you found this post useful, as always, all pictures are links to Amazon products. As an Amazon Associate I get commissions from sales, so help a girl out, use my links to place your orders.
